Sudanese riot police clashed with students demonstrating in Khartoum Tuesday to denounce the death of a comrade in a protest last week.

Police used clubs in beating up the students from the University of the Two Niles who marched in the streets in the western part of the capital, shouting anti-government slogans and accusations that it was behind the killing of their comrade.

The student, Khaled Mohammed Nour, died Sunday from head wounds he suffered during an anti-government demonstration on Thursday. His assailant was not identified.

Another university student died earlier this month in similar student protests in the region of Nuba in central Sudan.
